I have windows 7 64 bit Home premium. Hmmm what method of installer is it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. You might have better luck going in to device manager and trying to update the driver manually then pointing it to the.ini file if possible. Intel r 82579lm gigabit network connection driver. Are you running it as administrator?

i am using samsung kies 2.5.1.12123_2 version , and wanted to connect my device via usb , but every time i connect my device to pc , it shows that the device cannot be supported by samsung kies 2.0 .
And i am already having the key for the media center and had even installed on my system ,is there any other software or update which i can install to get my device detected with samsung kies.
where as , when the same device(galaxy ace) is connected with windows 7 PC it work's fine with the same version of the samsung kies .

I have the same problem with my Samsung GT-I9000. It was fine with Win7. I don't think it is related to the kies or 'Windows Media Center ' but it seems to be a driver problem - I got the message that the driver is unavailable.

I had contacted samsung customer care also they told me that currently they don't have any support for the problem , only thing that they can provide is that ' you should be installed with windows 8 N ' and after that you can install media feature pack , and kies will work fine with it.
But the problem with us is that the we are using windows 8 pro , on which media feature pack cannot be installed . so we are totally blocked .

Couple of questions related to this.
1 - How do i tell what options have already been installed on my pc? When I click add options it doesn't list 'Media pack' just 8.1 Pro. I already have media player installed which seems to be what comes with 'media pack' - but not sure if this proves i had it.
2 - It doesn't sound 100% like this will solve the problem. Is there some sort of guaranteed refund if it doesn't - quite apart from the questionable ethics of charging £100 for what is effectively just a driver, charging for something that it isn't clear will work is something else.

I have the latest update of Kies but it still does not work.

I spoke to Samsung and they said the ac e is not compatible to 8.1

However the windows site states that it is.

I still can not get it to work.

try the latest update version of Samsung kies , and it will work fine with windows 8 .

I am using Samsung kies with my Samsung galaxy ace S5830 and it is working fine with it .

try to find the right kies since they have two types of kies for smart phone on Samsung website

and use them and in reply please tell the kies version which you were using .

I have the same problem. I have downloaded the correct version Kies 3-I have a 4.3 galaxy. It will not detect my device. I am running Windows Vista. We have 3 phones, all galaxy's and have tried all 3 phones, none are recognized to back them up.

can you upload the image for the error with the version of kies you are using , try get to device manger and check if it can detect device as a usb composite or usb storage device , if not , try using trouble shooting in connection in kies like this , see below

if this is not shown try to uninstall kies and when installing again try not to connect the device to the PC until the installation is complete , once the installation is complete reboot your system and then try again to connect the device if again the problem persist feel free to write again.

I just replaced my SD card with a new SD card. And it worked. So the problem was with my SD card. I did master reset and format SD card several times from the phone but it did not work. When i inserted a 'supposedly' new SD card, it worked. Read on to see what i meant by 'supposedly'.
I was able to reproduce the same problem and figured out what was the thing that went wrong. Whenever i connected my phone to a PC (whether Windows or MAC or Linux and whether with or without Kies), if i enabled 'Connect Storage to PC' from the android phone's notification and then if i formatted the SD card from the PC (while the SD card is actually inside the phone), I observed that connecting phone with the pc again doesn't let the phone understand that its USB is now connected to a PC and that its SD card storage can now be mounted in the PC.
So, to solve that,

  • i took out the SD card from the phone
  • mounted the SD card in my PC with a generic card reader
  • copied all current contents of the SD card (if any) to a safe location
  • and then formatted the SD card from the PC (remember that this time i did not format the SD card THROUGH the data cable while the SD card is in the phone)
After that, i took out the SD card and put it back into my phone like a 'supposedly' new SD card. And after that, when i connected the phone with a PC via the data cable, it showed up in my Android Notification that 'USB Connected'.
